What do you  guys have to say about starting a new forum? A forum needs an active community to make posts, how according to you'll can someone make that happen apart from hiring paid posters??

It's not easy, frankly. I am amazed to find many forums so popular. you have to put in a lot of efforts to market a forum. Promoting a forum is the only way to make forums reach masses.

Indeed and another way is to spam...that means to send milions of e-mails to guys...but the truth is that is ilegal and not so many will join...maybe they will report you...so there is no other way. You have to pay some guys untill the comunity will grow and they will really love to chat in here.

True, initially the forum needs a boost but later on interested parties may find it good enough.

Contribute as much as you can to the forums, and do not leave discussions unanswered for more than a few hours. Quick response times will greatly increase the likelyhood of your community sticking around.

It's all about friends, if you have friends who are like minded then you get them to post on your forum.

I once had a friend of mine having an argument with his Dad on one of my forums and neither of them knew who the other one was, then they both started complaining to eachother about the other poster and the penny dropped.

Very funny
